Moulds let fibreglass do compound curves, integrated liners and glossy finishes economically at volume. Plate aluminium is cut and welded, which suits purposeful, functional layouts — and makes genuine customisation far easier: a plate builder can move a tank, stretch a cockpit or add a dive door without new tooling, which is why built-to-order boats are so often alloy.
